North Codorus Township was incorporated on January 6th, 1838 from a petition to the York County Courts, officially seperating it from Codorus Township. Today the township covers an area of 33 square miles.

The village of Stoverstown, located within the Township, was known as Okete, Pennsylvania, which was named after an indian tribe who had originally settled in the area.
